   About Raga Gopika Basant

Raga Gopika Basant

Raga Gopika-Basant is a very sweet melody with a shadow semblance of raga Malkauns eliminated beautifully by employing Pancham (P). Use of Pancham is less in Aaroh. The following combination of notes produce a lasting impression with a fuller manifestation of the raga in its unique mood:

,d ,n S ; g g m g S ; S g m P m ; mPm g S ; g m d d n d m ; P d n ; m n d ; Pm gm P ; g m g ; n d m P g m ; gm Pm g S.
,d ,n ,d S ,n g S ; g m g S ; n d P n d P m g ; P m Pm g ; g' S' n ; d n ; P d m P g m ; P m g S ; ,d ,d ,n ,n S.

This is raga of Karnatak padhiti now it's famous in utari sangeet padhiti. It's kept in Ashawari thaat due to soft ga dha ni.  This is beautiful combination of Malkaunsh and jaunpuri raga. Malkaunsh is in purvang and jaunpuri is in utrang. Some singers say that it is combination of Malkaunsh and Bhervi raga. Takes Abhas of nishad on dhevat due to ashawari practice and association of dha Ma is show again and again. This is playing in all three octaves despite utrang pradhan. This raga of khyal organ and thumri is not sang in this. Some singers considerd Pa as vadi and Sa as samvadi.
Swar of nyas Ma and Pa.
