Raga Asa Bhairav
Raga Asa Bhairav is a sunrise raga. It has evolved from Bhairav thaat. The word Asa comes from Sanskrit word 'Asha', meaning hope.
In this hybrid of Ragas Asa and Bhairav, the Bhairavanga is expressed only in the poorvanga, through G M (G)r S. The rest of the contour looks to Asa S S(M)R M P, DNPD S' and so on. Raga Asa has no flattened or sharpened notes. It maintains that hopeful, airy nature till the komal rishabh (flattened second) appears in the descent, introducing a tension in the raga.
