AS A COMPOSER

Revati has also taken to composing and has few compositions in khyal music. These include a range of bandishes, taranas, trivat, sargam-geet and chaturang. Her compositions in classical music have been appreciated by experts in this field.

Devotional music

She has also presented a programme titled,‘Santbaani’, which include the works of Kabir, Surdas, Meera, Khusro, Sahjobai, Ravidas and Hanumanprasad Poddar. She has composed the music for these bhajans and has rendered voice for the same. The encouraging response for this program resulted in the recording of these bhajans in the album titled- Santbaani, which was released by Smt.Shubha Mudgal in 2014.

 ORGANISED CONCERTS

                     Gunjan

Both the above programmes were performed by children between the ages 5 to 15. The aim of these concerts was to promote love and interest in Hindustani classical music among children.

·                     Raag ek rang anek was a programme based on classical music    and classical based light music. This was held with the intention that the common man may get acquainted with classical music.

·                     Tapasya-. is an annual event held every year on 8th March to mark international woman’s day. Seldom do we find an event that specially focuses and recognizes the role of the woman behind the success of a musician. It is in this context that, Revati conceived of felicitating such women who have always stood behind their family, unrecognized. Tapasyaa is a humble attempt to express gratitude to every such woman.

·                     Rangotsav-surancha   was an event  based on Holi; which  was a combination of traditional bandishes and some composed by Dr.Kamat.

·                     Santbaani-- was an event based on the devotional compositions by different saints of North India. She has composed and sung the bhajans for this concert.

·                     Swarangan-the chhotekhani mehfil - has been instrumental in organizing this series of house concerts for upcoming musicians along with Bharat Kamat

·

  • Aarambh... the beginning of a musical journey', is a very comprehensive project comprising of a book and cd meant especially for introducing and developing taste for classical music among children. This is a story of a young girl, Sai, who discovers music in a unique way and gets interested in it. The story that begins from the basics of sound to the swar and laya in Indian music is engaging for children since it attempts to elucidate musical concepts through their association with quotidian, familiar concepts. The musical journey of Sai and her friends through games promises to make learning music a very interesting process.

The story, and the compositions are by Dr.Revati herself. The cd includes 50 alankaars- that is the basic swar
exercises as well as 13 compositions which include only sargam geets, taranas, trivats and a tabla geet. As none of the compositions have any words, the listener and the student can enjoy the freedom of self expression  while rendering them. Even though the project is basically meant for children from seven and above, anyone who wishes to get introduced to Indian classical music can find it helpful. Besides, the  compositions can be improvised also by professional musicians and dancers.

 TEACHING

There are many students in Pune and a few abroad who are learning from her. Revati aids her training with audio-visual sessions and occasionally, a few workshops.
