Well grounded in classical music, Shevanti Sanyal is known for melodious and soulful rendition of bhajans, and for emotive and expressive rendition of ghazals. She is a 'top grade' artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan, and has performed in numerous public concerts and festivals all over India sponsored by prestigious organizations like All India Radio, Doordarshan, State Cultural Centers, Sangeet Natak Akademi and Sahitya Kala Parishad, to name a few. Shevanti Sanyal’s music recital was featured in the esteemed All India Radio National Program of music and on Doordarshan’s National Network. She has delighted audiences in the USA , Canada, Russia and Mauritius. She toured Mauritius and performed at various places during the Shiv Ratri festival as an ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) sponsored artiste in March 2002. In 2006 she enchanted audiences in States and Canada with her mellifluous singing and performed at the Indian Embassy in Washington for the prestigious Independence Day celebrations. She has lent her voice to tele – serials, and has been featured in bhajan and ghazal programs telecast by various private television channels like Zee TV and ETV.
Shevanti Sanyal has been charming audiences with beautiful renditions of Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti and adhunik bangla gaan for the last twenty-five years and has performed in many cities of India, including New Delhi and Kolkata at prestigious auditoria like Birla Sabhaghar and Kalamandir. She has been broadcasting Bengali songs over All India Radio and her concerts have been recorded and telecast by Doordarshan, Kolkata. Shevanti Sanyal has performed as the female lead voice in Tagore dance dramas like Shyama, Chitrangada, Shapmochan and Chandalika in numerous productions for many years.
Shevanti Sanyal started early in her musical career with an award winning performance in a Youth Festival in West Bengal, and has never looked back. She has been trained in classical music from an early age by Pt. Rameshwar Pathak of Gaya Gharana, and by Pt. Jagdish Prasad of Patiala Gharana. She has honed her ghazal gayaki under Smt. Shanti Hiranand, the well known direct disciple of Begum Akhtar. She holds Sangeet Visharad degree of Prayag Sangeet Samiti.
Shevanti Sanyal has a very successful ghazal cassette, titled 'Hayat' to her credit, Her Audio Cassettes of bhajans, titled 'Krishna Naam Sukh Dham', 'Ram Sancho Tero Naam', 'Ma Ne Bhavan Bulaya Hai', 'Man Mandir Bhagwan', 'Shanti Pushp' have been very popular and has made two albums for Shree Ram Sharnam Delhi.
Besides being an accomplished singer, Shevanti Sanyal is known for producing and directing original dance dramas on a large scale. The productions 'Ma Sarada' and 'Lalleswari', both made on original scripts, and staged several times in front of large audiences in prestigious auditoria in New Delhi, have been very well acclaimed by critics and audience.
