Amit
who works with Oracle Corporation is also an internationally acclaimed
Tabla Player. He is one of the finest exponents of 'Banaras Gharana'.
Amit is an ingenious Tabla solo recitalist and an elegant accompanist. He brings inventiveness in his solo performance. His deep
understanding of music, rigorous practice, improvisation and artistic
brilliance makes him an effortless recitalist & a young maestro. His
Tabla Recital can be described in one word, ‘elegance-personified’. He
has played in many music festivals / concerts in India and abroad in the
last 3 decades. He likes to write his own compositions & improvise
rhythmic patterns in Tabla.
His performances have been covered
by many national news papers in the last 25 years. Recently, he featured
in Times of India, The Hindu, Deccan Chronicle when he performed with a
Sitar Maestro from Glasgow, Scotland. He was also interviewed by an
Australian Magazine for his achievements in Indian Classical Music so
far.
His Tabla recital in Bangalore in past many years is
remembered for his sensational performance, innovation and creativity.
In Vishakhapatnam few years back he played 'Jugalbandi' with world
renowned Mridangam Player Patri Satish Kumar. He has performed with
renowned Tamil playback singer Smt. Anuradha Sriram in a
Hindustani-Carnatic Recital. He has accompanied legendary Ghazal maestro
Late Pt. Vithal Rao. His recent performance at The Defense Research
Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad brought audience on their feet.
As a matter of fact, he is a marvelous accompanist on Tabla. He has
become favorite of many instrumentalists from around the world who
performed Sitar, Santoor, Sarod, Violin, Harmonium, Piano, Shahnai,
Flute etc with him. That puts him straight away in the league of world
class musician.
He started learning Tabla at the age of 6 from Pt. Bachan Pathak and
became a child prodigy within few years of 'Taalim' (Training). He was
later trained under the kind guidance of legendry artist & world
renowned Tabla Maestro Pt. Samta Prasad (a recipient of ‘Padma Bhushan’
award) at Banaras.
Amit holds 'Praveen' in Indian Classical Music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad and also from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh.
On academic front, Amit is an alumnus of prestigious IIT, IIM & BIT.
