Aditi Bhagwat
   Biography
A Kathak exponent from India, Aditi Bhagwat is a disciple of the Padmashri awardee 'Dr.
Roshan Kumari' and represents the Jaipur-style of this Indian classical dance form. She
has also been under the able guidance of danseuse 'Nandita Puri' and continues to receive
training in taal (rhythm) and laikari (complexities in rhythm) from tabla maestro,
Pandit 'Kalinath Mishra'. The driving force behind Aditi's dance is her mother 'Ragini
Bhagwat'  who is trained in Indian classical singing.

Having earned a masters degree in psychology, Aditi has also acquired masters in
dance or Nritya Alankar from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Pune. She is an A-graded artist
of Doordarshan Kendra and also impaneled with the Indian Council of Cultural Relations
(ICCR).  She has received the title Nalanda Nritya Nipun from the Nalanda Dance
And  Research Academy, Mumbai.

Aditi was part of the fellowship program Onebeat which was produced by Bang On A
Can’s Found Sound Nation (NY) and which was an initiative of the US Department of
State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. This was a residency and tour program
where Aditi had the opportunity to collaboratively create and perform new music
with  32 musicians from 21 different countries. Aditi featured as a foot percussionist
from India and successfully combined Indian rhythms and Kathak bols (syllables)
through  her feet and  ‘ghungroos’.

As a dancer, she has enthralled audiences not only in India but also in countries like
USA, Australia, London, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Poland, New Zealand, and
Hungary.

Besides Kathak, Aditi is also trained to perform the Marathi folk dance Lavani. She also received  training in Odissi by danseuse Jhelum Paranjpe.

Aditi deeply loves and respects the rich cultural heritage that India is adorned with. She is indebted to her Gurus for introducing her to this beautiful culture of Indian dance and  classical music.

She has featured in Hindi movies like Traffic Signal and Myoho and has also acted inseveral regional films (in Marathi) like Chalu Nawara Bholi Bayko, Dombivli Fast, Sumbaran, Aai No.1.

 Her stint with television includes shows like Avantika, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and Eka Peksha Ek. She is also a proud cultural ambassador of a Marathi newspaper, 'Lokmat Times'.

   Awards & Achievements
She has had the opportunity to experiment with traditional and other innovative disciplines of music, as well as world music. In this context, she has successfully utilised her Kathak and Lavani dance forms to jam with Jazz maestro Louiz Banks, percussionist Sivamani , music composer Merlin D’Souza (all India-based), Rod Williams (NewYork), Bela Szakcsi Lakatos (Hungary), on various Kathak-Jazz/Lavni-Jazz collaborations.

Aditi has featured as the lead dancer/actor in a Bollywood musical Dreamgirls of Bollywood which was launched in collaboration with the Skycity Theatre, New Zealand in April 2009.
