Biography

Arati is an emerging talent in Hindustani classical music. She is one of the young torch bearers of 'Kirana Gharana.' Arati started learning classical music at the age of 9 from Smt. Leelatai Gharpure. She picked up the nuances of Kirana Gayki under the strict watchful eye of Smt. Gharpure. She continued to learn from Smt. Gharpure for 11 years.

Besides Khyal-music Arati learnt the intricacies of semi-classical music forms such as Thumari, Dadra,Ghazal from Dr.Prabha Atre & Dr.Sanjeev Shende.

After graduation in commerce, Arati completed M.A. in music from S.N.D.T. university. She stood second at the university level & is the recipient of 'Gaan-Hira' prize. She is a 'Sangeet visharad' from Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya.

Arati specializes in vocal classical music. She is equally well versed with semi-classical music forms like Thumri, Dadra. Arati also sings Bhajan, Abhanga & Natyasangeet.

Blessed with a melodious and deep soulful voice which has been groomed over the years, she has been able to present classical as well as semi classical and devotional compositions with equal intensity in all her concerts.

Career

Arati has performed in many music conferences all over India. Her performances have been well appreciated and acknowledged by veteran musicians like Pt.Bhimsen Joshi, Pt.Feroz Dastur.

Arati is the recipient of many coveted awards and scholarships. Noted among them are Paingankar Puraskar, Parundekar Puraskar, Sudha Sindhu Puraskar, Sur Mani Award, Late Pramilabai Deshpande Puraskar etc.

She is a rank holder of the University and has been awarded the prestigious ‘Gaan Heera' Puraskar.

Arati has received scholarships from the Govt. of India, Dept. of Culture, New Delhi and Dadar Matunga Cultural Centre, Mumbai for vocal Classical Music.
