Career

Most music professionals start music lessons at a tender age during their childhood but my story is different. I started learning the bansuri in 2009 and after putting in a lot of hardwork and with the blessings of my guru I have given several flute performances and shows over the years.

From a mere student to performing/teaching the bansuri, it has been a joyride. I took my initial training from Shri Easwaran Anantraman and later under my current guru, Pt, Vivek Sonar.

I perform Hindustani Classical music, fusion, bollywood as well as devotional music. I also give initial lessons in the flute.

Satej Karandikar presents Melody Front live

Indie Fusion show called Melody Front live. This act includes two original compositions in Raga Bhimpalasi and Raga Poorvi among other experimental musical creations. There is an eclectic mix of soulful and electrifying vocal performances, flute, guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, tabla, cajun box and drums. They had the honour of performing before Abhijeet Pohankar Band at the prestigious Times of India Sanskruti Arts Festival 2016.

Satej Karandikar presents Nostalgia

A bollywood medley show called Nostalgia where satej performs with my band Melody Front. The format of the show is like a musical tribute to yesteryear and contemporary music directors belonging to the Hindiand Marathi Film Industry. The show has a mix of audience interaction and fun facts about each music director followed by a medley of their songs. However, this is not like an orchestra. Instead, they use various Western and European musical elements in an attempt to give the songs a fresh feel.

Satej Karandikar presents solo flute recital in Classical

The show starts with Alap, Jod and Jhalla in a particular raga followed by two compositions with tabla accompaniment. The show either ends with another raga or with a bhajan.

Awards & Achievements

Played BGM for Marathi film 'Chahto Mi Tula' released in 2016.
Performed Fusion concert at prestigious Times of India sponsored Sanskruti Arts Festival 2016, Thane with band 'Melody Front'. The band was the opening act for Abhijeet Pohankar concert.
Performed at Tata NCPA theatre (2015) for Hindi play Kanupriya, starring Neha Joshi and Vibhawari Deshpande; directed by Mitali Joshi.
Performed Rag Dhaani at Shiv Sena Bhavan. (2015)
Performed Fusion concert at J.W.Marriot, Mumbai in 2015 with Roopak Naigaonkar (Sarod), Karthik Shenoy (Tabla), Hardik Shah (Percussions) and Akhil Valsalan (Guitar).
