The style of Pakhawaj wadan of Pt. Upadhyay is characterized by clarity in padhant, pure pronunciation of words, mathematical work in music, miraculous Tihaiyan, difficult Laykariyan, Stuti, Chanda, Padala, difficult Parans, preparations of marvelous Relas.
Apart from being an accomplished Solo Player of Pakhawaj, he also accompanies with Dance, Musical instruments, Vocal Dhrupad, Taal Vadya Kachehery and Duets. Besides Pakhawaj, he has a good command over tabla as Solo and accompaniment artist, and he is also a talented Vocal Dhrupad artist.
Along with an expert artist, he is an accomplished Guru as well. He has been teaching Pakhawaj for 18 years at Prayag Sangeet Samiti Allahabad and at present from Dec, 2007, he is teaching in National Institute of Kathak Kendra,New Delhi as Pakhawaj Guru. He has trained many students in this art form and has shown them the path of success. A few of his good students include Utkarsh Malviya, Rishi Upadhyay,Gaurav Upadhyay, Bhoomika Dwivedi, Yorg Coffman (Switzerland), Mr. John(England) etc.

Two music CD's of Pt. Upadhyay are released on Pakhawaj solo from Sangeet Kendra, Ahmadabad (2006) and sense world music U.K (2007). His two music CD's sangat has also been released with Italian Dhrupad singer Amilia Kuni and with Prem Kumar Mallik in Germany named Prince of Love.
Pt. Ravi Shankar did many international concerts and workshops in the Indian Culture Centre, Berlin, Radio Berlin (Germany), Palazo Armonie, Laco (Switzerland), Campo Baso (Italy).in 2005, he did concerts in the Steemmann Festival-Basel, Bintertour, Burn (Switzerland), Berlin Embassy, Berlin, Radio, Bon, demonstrated in Frankfurt in Germany, Paris (France).He has also given mesmerizing performance in the Darbar Festival organized by the Asian Music Festival in London and Leicester (England) in the year 2006. Participated again in 2007 in the Darbar festival organized by the Asian Music festival in London and Leicester (England)., Festival of India In Kazakistan (Astana and Almaty) 2009 organized by Government Of India, Ministry Of culture, Participate again in Darbaar festival in 2010 and in 2010 pandi ji attend Europ tour in France, Estoinia etc.
