Biography

Manali Deo is a promising Kathak dancer in the present young generation of kathak Dancers. She is one of the senior disciples of well known kathak Guru Dr. Mrs. Manjiri Deo (Disciple of Late Natraj Gopikrishna). She is fortunate to have her Guru Dr. Mrs. Manjiri Deo as her mother in law and husband tabla maestro of young generation Talmani Mukundraj Deo from whom presently she is learning intricacies of layakari in kathak Dance.

Academically Manali Deo is commerce graduate from Mumbai University. Manali Deo secured ‘Sangeet Visharad’ and 'Sangeet Alankar' in Kathak Dance from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Miraj. She appeared as jury member in ‘Eka peksha ek’ on Zee Marathi and judge in ‘Dum-Duma-Dum’. She has participated in the program ‘Hori ayi re’ on Alfa TV and ‘Rutuncha Shatarangi darbar’ on Sahyadri channel. She is a regular examiner, paper setter, moderator for Kathak Examinations conducted by Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Miraj and for many other institutions.

Manali Deo is also director of Shree Ganaraj Nritya Kala Niketan through which she imparting knowledge of Kathak dance to young dancers. She gives classical solo programs performs in groups. At the same time she also teaches students rich cultural heritage of India through folk dances of the country.

Career

Manali has given performances in various parts of country and also performed with her guru.

The major performances by Manali Deo :

- Shivali Music festival, chembur.

- Kathak Dance Festival of Lasya academy, Mumbai.

- Holi Festival of Sharada Sangeet Vidyalaya, Bandra.

- Padmashree natraj gopikrishna sangeet mahotsav, Thane.

- Sanskriti kala mahotsav.

- Vividh kala mahotsav organized by Government of Maharashta in nanded.

- Kathak Lavanai susanvad at Mumbai festival.

- Indradhanu festival.

- Navratri festival in Miraj.

- Music festival in Pandharpur in temple of Vithal Rakhumai.

She was closely associated with Yuvak Biradari and visited Sikkim, Bangalore and other parts of country. She has performed in ballets choreographed by her guru in different music festivals like Dashavatar, Gayatrihridaya, Saritastavan etc.

Manali Deo visited Mauritius, Singapore and Ray Union islands and received great applause from residents.She is also a part of a thematic programs like Anubhuti , Taalchakra Beats composed by Pt. Mukundraj Deo (based on Indian Classical Music).
