Biography

Jayesh Rege born into a Music loving family is an “A” graded Tabla Player of All India Radio (AIR), Mumbai giving regular, as well as National Broadcasts for A.I.R . He is one of the Senior-most disciples of the renowned Tabla and Pakhawaj Maestro Pt. Sadanand Naimpalli of the Farukkabad Gharana having taken rigourous training and Talim for more than two decades. He performs in the Percussion Ensemble titled “ Laya Taal Samvad” with Guruji Pt Sadanand Naimpalli, which has received appreciation fromall the Music Lovers.

Jayesh Rege is also a Managing Trustee of “AAMAD PRATISHTHAN”,a registered charitable trust dedicated to promote Indian Classical Music.

Recently he has produced a Music Album of Devotional Bhajans, Stotras, and Abhangs which were written by his grandfather the renowned Astrologer and Vedic Scholar Late Krishnabhat Rege around 50 years back. He was a senior priest in the Shantadurga Temple, Kavale – Goa for more than 5 decades . Jayesh has also lent his voice for the bhajans apart from giving tabla accompaniment. This attempt was a tribute on the occasion of the Birth Centenary of his grandfather.

As a hobby Jayesh also playes Table-Tennis at a competitive level, herepresents his company Reliance Anil Ambani Group at the All India Electricity Sports Control Board Table Tennis Tournaments (AIESCB) at a National Level.

Career

Apart from giving regular Tabla-Solo broadcasts and recitals, he has accompanied many vocalists, String and Wind instrumentalists, Kathak Dance Recitals. He has performed in Percussion Ensembles in many prestigious

concerts & conferences all over India. His performances have been widely appreciated by both, the audiences and music connoisseurs and critics alike.

Jayesh also participated and performed in a workshop conducted by Tabla Maestro of International repute Ustad Zakir Hussain organized by the N.C.P.A , Mumbai on 18th December 2007.

Awards & Achievements

Jayesh Rege has won many Music Competitions , few of which are mentioned below :-

• The “ SWAR SADHANA SAMITI “ trophy in the year 1994. Jayesh has been closely associated with the Swar Sadhana Samiti family. He has participated regularly in their Monthly as well as the Annual

Programme Concerts.

• He has won the “ ALL INDIA RADIO “ 1st prize trophy for Tabla Solo playing in their annual music competition in 1994 .

• He has won the “ V D PALUSKAR “ trophy in the competition held by SHARADA SANGEET VIDYALAYA in 1998.

• He has possibly set a record by winning prizes at the Inter Collegiate Music competitions organized by Mumbai University for 5 consecutive years between 1994 and 1998.

• He has won the 1st prize at the West Zone Inter University Youth Festival held at Nagpur in 1998.

• He has won the GOLD medal at the Inter-University National Youth Festival at Chandigarh in 1998 where he represented Mumbai University , for which he was honoured by Shri P C Alexender ( Ex-Governor of Maharashtra).

• Conferred the title “ TAL-MANI “ by Sur-Singar Samsad.
